How To Do Good In Your Community

At the beginning of my business journey there was a point where I went from a “know it all” to “damn I don’t know anything at all”.

Thankfully at the time (and still to this day) my gym member, Kevin Blake, was there to provide me with  helpful business advice to steer me back on track.

Kevin works for a internet service provider for businesses. He’s spent year in the business growing his knowledge, growing the company, and interacting with his community.

He’s found that encouraging his company to give back to the community leaves their impact value greater, making them a “local legend”.  Kevin shared some of the most successful ways to do so!

1.) Mission Statements

Part of Kevin’s personal, and his company’s mission statement is to make a difference in people’s lives.

Having core values and a mission statement allow a place for all of your decision to be filtered through.

Do they align with your mission statement and values?

Stay true to what your company stands for.

2.) Offer Support

Express the importance of volunteering and giving back to your staff.

If you are able to offer paid/half paid hours for volunteer work, do it!

And celebrate the efforts of those who are giving back.

It you bolster it, it will be viewed as important!

3.) Know Why It Matters

Although you might not initially think that it makes sense for a gym to be involved with giving toys for tots, or volunteering at an animal shelter, it does.

Doing good in your community, no matter the efforts, will not only leave the individual feeling satisfied, but you will be remembered for your generosity.

While being involved in your community, opportunities will come to  you.

We discuss incorporating giving back into your business on Episode 19 of the Level Up Your Gym Podcast, “How To Do Good In Your Community  – A Conversation with Kevin Blake “.
