Conquer Gym Liability and Risk Management

Recently, I was on a call with David discussing risk management of my physical locations of my gym facilities.

Naturally, I found his advise very helpful, and asked him if he would share his knowledge with the Level Up Your Gym Podcast.

David has been working in liability and risk management in the athletic/fitness industry for over 25 years.

It’s safe to say that he knows what he’s doing

There are many liability and risk prevention measures that gym owners might not even consider or may glance over.

It’s important to be proactive and preventative rather than reactive.

David touches on some important measures that all gym owners should considers.

1.) Have a Solid Liability Waiver

You need to present a document clearly stating that your client assumes their own risk, they have checked with a doctor, and are healthy to work out safely.

2.) Emergency Preparation

Accidents happen.

And you need to be prepared for them.

Have your staff CPR certified.

Stock a defibrillator on site.

Have emergency plans written out and ready if necessary.

3.) Have Facility Rules Signs Posted

Present these rules to new members as they sign up.

And make sure that they are posted around your facility.

Rules should enforce safety measures and procedures.

Ex.) Never begin working out without an ‘okay’ from a trainer.

These tips are just a peek into the knowledge that David had to share on Episode 28 of the Level Up Your Gym Podcast, “How to Conquer Gym Liability and Risk Management” .
